Sayulita Mexico Best Hidden vacation Destination on Mexican Riviera Nayarit

Tour Sayulita on the Mexican Riviera Nayarit
Having fun in Mexico is rather easy. A trip into Puerto Vallarta deposits you amidst a bevy of fancy resorts and splashy entertainment options that will make for a memorable trip. But for a more authentic experience, you should head north out of PV and drive up to the town of Sayulita.
About 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita is nothing like the big resort cities. Sayulita sits on the sandy shores of Nayarit, a state on the Pacific coast of Mexico. The area was not settled until seventy years ago, and even then it was made up of large shared farms and simple fishing operations. During the 1960s, surfers found the spectacular breaks on Sayulita’s beaches and – following the government highway project connecting the town with Puerto Vallarta – the crowds began to grow. Actually, Sayulita is known as one of the primary surfing destinations in the world|the western hemisphere|North America} and surf shops abound.

Despite its remoteness and size, Sayulita does offer plenty of things to do. The people have really been able to maintain the rural quaintness of the area with just enough modern amenities sprinkled in to make for an enjoyable time. The people still maintain their traditional festivals and parades – especially during major religious celebrations – and travelers always have a blast joining in the fiestas. There are many restaurants from reasonably upscale to sidewalk shops serving up quick, inexpensive meals. Tours of the dense surrounding jungles are widely available – a few of them including the handful of ancient Aztec sites which have been discovered in the past ten years. The natural environment of the still-virgin jungle surrounding the palm-fronted town is astounding. A couple international schools operate on-going biology labs in the jungle here, studying Sayulita’s vast array of bird and reptile species.
Brightly colored Mexican and Aztec-influenced architecture dominates most of Nayarit. Color is all over as the tropical surroundings allow the growth of gaudy flowers that seem to spill from every window and adorn every flat surface possible.

Sayulita is not exactly a remote outpost, however. In the past few years there has been the construction of a couple luxury resorts, and the total Riviera Nayarit vicinity is now popular as a vacation home or retreat for North Americans. In December and January, the waves are at their best and the beaches can get crowded. But again, Sayulita has maintained its local culture, and it is not difficult to locate in this friendly village.
