Recently, a diet trend came out into the limelight and promises its patrons to lose weight in a day. This diet is is branded as HCG diet and was developed from a belief that a certain hormone found in a pregnant woman could help in reducing weight in overweight people and keep it off after returning to the regular routine.

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin or HCG diet might be one of the more effective ways to shed weight. It promises to decrease your weight by a pound or even more a day. It is said that with the use of HCG, our brain is again trained to look for and use the fats that are stored by our bodies over the years. The body's metabolism goes back to the way it was when we were young. HCG is actually the hormone that signals the body to burn surplus fat, especially in pregnant women to help feed both the mother and the baby whenever the calorie intake is too low. This works not only for ladies but also for men. Our body is tricked into thinking it is in a pregnant state, restricting the calorie intake and burns our extra fat into the strength and food we need.

This diet comes with a special hcg diets recipes that should be followed when using this body weight lose program. Whatever specific hcg diet you may be following, a basic diet menu must be adopted. For the 500-calorie-a-day diet, the following is the menu of choice:

BREAKFAST: Consume coffee or tea without sugar in any quantity with only one tablespoon of milk in 24 hours permitted.

For LUNCH: 1. Have one kind of vegetable only. Choose from the following list of: chard, red radishes, asparagus, cabbage, beet-greens, tomatoes, green greens, onions, celery, cucumbers, fennel, and spinach.

2. Take just 100 grams of beef, fresh white fish, veal, chicken breast, shrimp, lobster, or crab. Weight the meat uncooked. Remove all the visible body fats before cooking, and must be boiled or grilled. Fishes such as tuna, salmon, herring and any dried fish are not allowed. Also, the chicken breast should be removed from the body of the bird.

3. A few strawberries, an Apple, one-half grapefruit, or an orange.

4. One bread stick.

DINNER: Stick to the same food choices as with lunch.

Using this diet, drinks and seasonings are permitted but without butter, oil, or dressing. Beverages such as coffee, tea, mineral water, or just plain water can be taken at all times in any quantity.
